Empire Online 2 is a highly intelligent strategy game that can be played that involves two or more players. It combines fantasy and strategy in a unique manner and the objective of a player is to defeat his/her opponent to gain more territory, land and power. Resources, which are a vital aspect of any strategic game are also competed for and aggression is the norm of the day. Without sufficient resources like food, water, wood etc. armies of civilisations are vulnerable and that is exactly what they do not need. Humans, wizards and monks co-exist in this competitive world and every player controls a kingdom along with its king and subjects.
In the game, the player plays the role of a king and thus in control of his subjects. He/she must use whatever means it requires i.e. verbal diplomacy, war or bribe in order to protect his kingdom. Many a times, a co-operative competition may exist if there are more than two players. Two players may decide to gang up against one or more player/s if they wish to or the need is so. The most interesting aspect of this game is that players may choose to play various civilisations like Mongols, Persians, Japanese Arabs etc. and assuming their language, resources and land may completely step into their shoes for a battle they have never experienced. It is not an action packed game and patience would be of utmost importance if a player were to play this game. It takes months to build and rejuvenate armies but it is all worth it in the eventual conquest. One may challenge it with many other simulation or strategy games that offer more than just a competition to it, however some key features distinguish it from any other game. One needs to play a bit every day and save it and thus it is not a monotonous procedure that requires plentiful hours every day. The game is a free ware with thoughtful designs to make complexities enjoyable.
To conclude with, the game shows actual conflict and is not just a pile of sleepy reports. Last but not the least, owing to its thoughtful design, navigation is easy and effortless. Hence it gets a score of three rating points out of five.
